AEW Dynamite Unsung MVP 10-09-19: Darby Allin
This week’s Unsung MVP for the October 9, 2019 episode of AEW Dynamite is Darby Allin.
This was a landmark night for the young All Elite Wrestling wrestler. Allin faced off against Jimmy Havoc in an AEW World Heavyweight Championship number one contenders match in last night’s episode. The winner of the match would receive the opportunity to face AEW World Heavyweight Champion next week on AEW Dynamite on TNT from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The match itself was ok, fans are potentially primed to see both wrestlers in a more hardcore match environment, especially Jimmy Havoc, so while some fans may have found this match tame in comparison to their matches on Pay Per View such as the “Cracker Barrel Clash” at All Out, it was the type of match you may have to accept from both on TNT.
Allin would take a lot of punishment during the match but eventually get the win with the Coffin Drop (one of the best finishers out their right now) and become the number one contender.
However, Darby’s night would not end their. After the main event which saw AEW World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara defeat Dustin Rhodes and “Hangman” Adam Page, chaos ensued with members of The Elite and Jericho’s “Inner Circle” brawling in and outside the ring. With Jericho looking to escape, Darby Allin would skateboard down the ramp and collide with Le Champion.
Allin would get some left and right hands in until Jericho and the rest of the Inner Circle escaped up the ramp.
It was certainly a landmark night for Darby Allin, with next week surely to place him in the spotlight even further. Allin gives off some serious Jeff Hardy vibes and has the potential to be a huge star for All Elite Wrestling. This may be the beginning of great things for the former skateboarder turned professional wrestler.
