On this day 2 years ago, No Mercy emanated from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

In the main event, WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar defeated Braun Strowman to retain the WWE Universal Championship. At 9:00 minutes long, this was the shortest match on the show despite being the main event.

During the match “The Beast Incarnate” would defeat “The Monster among Men” in their first ever singles match-up after hitting Strowman with an F5 for the clean victory.

The event drew 16,106 fans at the arena but the main event garnered widespread criticism for the booking of the Lesnar/Strowman main event; Dave Meltzer speaking on the Wrestling Observer Radio, called the main event “a huge disappointment”, and said that the match went against Strowman’s character and performance strengths, referring to his SummerSlam and Great Balls of Fire matches in particular.

What are your memories of this match?
