Opinion on: New Commentary Teams?
We want to give you the opportunity to share your opinions on all things professional wrestling!
Today we ask you, what is your opinion on the newly announced commentary teams?
It has long been rumoured that with the upcoming draft and “premieres” of Raw, Smackdown & NXT on their respective networks that we would see a shake-up in the commentary booth.
These long rumours have since been confirmed by the WWE when they announced the new line ups for each brand
Raw: Vic Joseph, Dio Maddin and Jerry “The King Lawler will be the new announce team. Joseph & Maddin have been recently voicing 205 live on the WWE Network with Aiden English. However, it’s the return of Hall of Famer Lawler that has surprised some.
Smackdown: Michael Cole, Corey Graves & Renee Young. In the announcement it stated that Michael Cole (WWE’s lead broadcaster) would be handling play-by-play with Corey Graves being an analyst with Renee Young being a “Special Contributor”. It is curious as to what a special contributor is. Could we just be seeing the Raw announce team head to Friday Nights or could we be seeing a two-person booth of Cole & Graves with Renee Young moving into a hosting role for particular segments?
NXT: The announce team of Mauro Ranallo, Nigel McGuinness and Beth Phoenix will remain the same. Many regard this team as the premiere commentary team within the WWE so it’s no surprise that the man behind NXT Triple H would not want to be making any changes to the brand’s announce team line up.
However, curious by their absence is Tom Phillips & Byron Saxton. What roles could the former Smackdown & NXT announcers have in the future with WWE?
