Paul Heyman WWE Raw Firing UPDATE
Further details are emerging regarding the departure of Paul Heyman as Executive Director of Monday Night Raw.
It was announced earlier this week that WWE was “consolidating” the creative teams of Raw and Smackdown with Smackdown Executive Director overseeing both shows. This would allow Paul Heyman to focus on his role as an “in-ring performer”.
In reality it is being reported that Vince McMahon was unhappy with Raw’s declining ratings and felt the need to make a change.
However, it has since been reported that USA Network, the cable network that has been the long-time broadcaster of Monday Night Raw, is said to be VERY unhappy with McMahon’s decision of remove Heyman as Executive Director of the red brand.
Likewise, it has also been reported that there may be heat between AJ Styles and Paul Heyman. Reportedly AJ Styles requested to be traded Friday Night Smackdown after the feeling that Paul Heyman “could have done more” to prevent Styles’ close friends Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson from being released in April.
While the final decision was Vince McMahon’s, Styles felt that Paul Heyman should have stood up and fought to prevent the two OC members from being released as part of “Black Wednesday’s” budget cuts due to the ongoing global coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, Styles requested to be traded to Smackdown several weeks ago, where he is now the new Intercontinental Champion.
