SPOILERS: Major rewrites to tonight’s Smackdown
It has been reported by PWInsider that there will be major changes to tonight’s episode of Smackdown due to the news that multiple performers, employees, producers and others have tested positive for COVID-19 this week.
Due to these positive tests at the WWE Performance Center WWE has had to scramble to make changes to the Smackdown taping for tonight’s episode, set to take place this afternoon from the WWE Performance Center.
While details are still being revealed, PWInsider has reported that The Undertaker tribute, which was announced last night, will include a re-airing of the WrestleMania 36 Boneyard Match between AJ Styles and The Undertaker in it’s entirety.
This Boneyard Match replay will reportedly take up roughly half of tonight’s airing of Smackdown.
It is still expected that we will see appearances from Matt Riddle and Jeff Hardy on tonight’s broadcast. However, the planned Intercontinental Championship match between AJ Styles and Drew Gulak is no longer being previewed on WWE.com’s Smackdown preview.
AJ Styles did share a ring with Renee Young (who tested positive for COVID-19) so this may be the reason why the match may not happen. In addition to this, Braun Strowman’s reaction to Bray Wyatt’s “Eater of Worlds” Character returning has also been removed from the WWE.com preview.
But, while we are still expected to see Jeff Hardy on tonight’s show, the “toast” by Sheamus that was announced last week, is no longer being listed for tonight’s show also.
