#TitleTuesday: Youngest Intercontinental Champion
It’s another #TitleTuesday and and we’re continuing to focus on the Intercontinental Championship in it’s 40th anniversary.
This week we focus on the youngest ever Intercontinental champion Jeff Hardy.
Jeff Hardy defeated then-WWE Intercontinental Champion Triple H on the April 12, 2001 edition of WWE Smackdown from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This would be record breaking as Jeff Hardy was 23 years old at the time of his victory, therefore becoming the youngest WWE Intercontinental Champion of all time, a record that he still holds to this day 18 years later. This would be Hardy’s first reign with the prestigious WWE Intercontinental Championship.
However, the championship reign would be short lived as Triple H would win back the WWE Intercontinental Championship 6 days later on Monday Night Raw defeating Hardy in Knoxville, Tennessee. This would be Triple H’s 4th reign as WWE Intercontinental Champion.
