What if…Finn Balor never got injured?
Today’s edition of What If asks you to answer the following hypothetical scenario; What If Finn Balor never got injured in 2016?
Finn Balor made his WWE main roster debut as part of the WWE Brand Extension in 2016. The former NXT Champion was drafted to Raw by General Manager Mick Foley and Commissioner Stephanie McMahon and made his debut on the July 25, 2016 episode of Monday Night Raw.
During his debut on Monday Night Raw he won a fatal 4-way match against Cesaro, Rusev and Kevin Owens and later in the night defeated Roman Reigns to compete to become the inaugural WWE Universal Champion at SummerSlam against Seth Rollins.
Balor as “The Demon” would go on to defeat Rollins to become the inaugural champion just weeks after making his main roster debut. However, during the match Seth Rollins would powerbomb Finn Balor into the ringside barricade. This would cause Finn Balor to sustain a shoulder injury, which after an MRI would be revealed to be a torn labrum.
Because of this, it was expected that Bálor would be out four to six months, thus Raw General Manager Mick Foley later announced on Twitter that Bálor would be relinquishing his newly won WWE Universal Championship due to his injury.
Kevin Owens would later become the second WWE Universal Champion after defeating Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Big Cass in a fatal 4-way match for the vacant Championship several weeks later on Raw.
However, what do you think would have been the course of plans had Finn Balor never got injured in 2016?
- Would we have seen Kevin Owens as Universal Champion?
- Would we have seen the festival of friendship?
- Would we have seen Triple H turning on Seth Rollins?
- Would Seth Rollins have become a babyface so quickly after returning from injury?
