WWE already in contact with Tessa Blanchard
Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer is reporting that WWE has reportedly “sent feelers out” to former Impact World Champion Tessa Blanchard to gauge interest in Blanchard working with the WWE in the future. There have yet to be any comments or reports about if AEW does have interest in signing Tessa Blanchard.
Tessa Blanchard was terminated by IMPACT Wrestling earlier this week, being stripped of the IMPACT World Championship in the process. Blanchard had been originally scheduled to return to IMPACT Wrestling and defend her World Championship at Slammiversary on July 18.
After not appearing on IMPACT Wrestling for several months due to the COVID-19 lockdown and quarantine, several reports have suggested that Blanchard was asked by IMPACT officials to send in promos from her home in Mexico to hype her upcoming return.
However, this was met with silence from the IMPACT World Champion. It has also been suggested that there were negotiations for Tessa Blanchard to return to IMPACT for one appearance to drop the IMPACT World Championship, but an agreement could not be reached between both parties.
Tessa Blanchard has worked with WWE in the past, appearing on the NXT brand and competing in the 2018 Mae Young Classic. However, it was reported that WWE did not sign Blanchard due to “attitude issues”, something which Tessa Blanchard denies.
In addition to this, Tessa Blanchard was accused of racist and bullying behaviour earlier this year, prior to becoming the IMPACT World Champion, on Social Media by several wrestling personalities.
Tessa Blanchard has also denied these accusations. However, it does bring up the question if WWE would be willing to take the big PR risk that signing Tessa Blanchard would bring.
