WWE Championship match confirmed for Extreme Rules
This week on Monday Night Raw we saw WWE confirm the WWE Championship match for Extreme Rules in July.
After successfully defeating Bobby Lashley at Backlash, WWE Champion Drew McIntyre opened Monday Night Raw to discuss who would be next to challenge the first ever British WWE Champion. McIntyre was shockingly interrupted by his former Raw Tag Team Champion partner Dolph Ziggler. The former Smackdown superstar revealed that he, and his tag team partner Robert Roode, had been traded to Monday Night Raw as part of the deal sending AJ Styles to Smackdown.
The duo would then discuss their history before Dolph Ziggler requested that the WWE Champion gives The Show-Off “what he is owed”, that being a WWE Championship opportunity at Extreme Rules.
Drew McIntyre accepted the challenge and the match between Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship was made official later on in the show.
No news yet as to if the match will have a special “extreme” stipulation, in keeping with the Extreme Rules event gimmick, or if the match will be a standard singles match.
Extreme Rules takes place on Sunday, 19 July 2020 from the WWE Performance Center streaming live and exclusive on the WWE Network.
